Entertaiment is a difficult subject to tackle. It encompasses such a vast range of images, structures, and genres that it is easy to confuse the term with its etymology: the prefix inter means “inside,” while the suffix tenere is related to Indo-European root ten, which means to hold or stretch something. It is also a category that lends itself to a certain amount of repetition and recycling, as familiar forms are reused over and over again, generating new variations on themes and images with nearly limitless potential for creative remix.
